NYSC:DG WARNS ON CONCESSIONAL POSTING
The director-general revealed this on Monday, September 21, at the opening ceremony of a two weeks skill acquisition training programme in Building Technology for corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Abuja, News Agency of Nigeria reports.
He said the scheme would no longer grant or accept such requests as the online registration platform has been designed to take care of such problems.
Olawunmi said: “The scheme has for the past few weeks received various requests from MDAs of government, private institutions and individuals seeking concessional posting.
“They are just wasting their time; we are not going to do any concessional posting for anybody. If we concede to this it will be killing the objective by which the scheme was established which is national integration.”
He noted that the scheme in the past had granted concessional postings for prospective corps members who either had medical problems, was pregnant or a nursing mother.
The director-general said the scheme had chosen the housing sector as a key component of its skill acquisition training for corps members to address youth unemployment.
He also said that the nation had gained in areas of trained labour force and improved output quality through the course of empowering the youths through vocational training.
Meanwhile, the director-general of NYSC, has dismissed reports of the scheme banning pregnant women and nursing mothers from orientation camps.
Olawumi said: “We did not ban pregnant women and nursing mothers from orientation camps. In the past, we have had cases where pregnant women and nursing mothers came to camps to participant in the NYSC activities. These are people who should come for service, but rather, we see ourselves managing them.

UNDERSTANDING INEC-NYSC ADHOC STAFF PAYMENTS
ABUJA: Inya (@inya01) on the MIDDAY DIALOGUE
A press statement has been issued by the NYSC and here it is.
NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS
National Directorate Headquarters
Yakubu Gowon House
Maitama – Abuja
PRESS RELEASE
1. The attention of the NYSC Management has been drawn to an online publication misinforming Corps members that the allowance due to them for participation in the 2015 General Elections is N53,500.00. The originator of the false publication is also mobilizing them to shun the next election on 11 April unless this total sum is fully paid.
2. Our preliminary investigation has so far indicated that this publication did not emanate from our Corps members and it is a mischievous circulation by some unscrupulous elements to discourage Corps members from participating in the next election for whatever reasons best known to them.
3. To correct the misinformation, Management hereby wishes to put the record straight for public awareness and restate to Corps members in clear terms their true entitlement for the elections. The allowances for each Corps member is as follows:
(a) Training allowance of Four Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N4,500.00) only paid directly by INEC to Corps members for the training held before elections.
(b) For each of the two elections, a Corps member is entitled to a sum of Thirteen Thousand Naira (N13,000.00) only which breaks down to N9,000.00, N3,000.00 and N1,000.00 for honoraria, transportation and feeding respectively. This implies that for the two elections, the total allowance due to each Corps member is Twenty Six Thousand Naira (N26,000.00) only. The fund for these was approved by INEC and remitted directly into each of the NYSC state Secretariat’s account a week before the Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
3. Management has confirmed that the amount of N13,000.00 for the Presidential and National Assembly Elections has been paid and any Corps member who could not receive the payment latest 6pm on Tuesday 7 April should make a complaint through the necessary channels. Also, Management has directed that the N13,000 allowance for the 11 April Gubernatorial and State Assembly Elections should be paid in advance by all NYSC State Secretariats latest by Friday 10 April 2015. Corps members are however to note that for those who receive the advance payment for the 11 April election and thereafter opt out of participation for whatever reason, the paid amount will be deducted from their April 2015 monthly allowance.
4. Management wishes to seize this opportunity to appreciate the gallant and patriotic efforts of Corps members nationwide who braved all odds in spite of the challenges of intimidation, threats of violence and logistics shortcomings to give their best in the Presidential and National Assembly Elections of 28 March 2015. You are no doubt the unsung hero of that election. However, be reminded that the job is not yet completed. You are therefore called upon to get back immediately and prepare for next Saturday's election. Since the conclusion of the 28 March election, Management has carried out a comprehensive review of the security challenges and is more poised to ensure the safety and security of Corps members in the upcoming election of Saturday 11 April 2015.
Signed
Management
The MANAGEMENT of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) yesterday confirmed that corps members working as ad hoc staff with the Independent National Electoral COMMISSION (INEC) had been paid in advance, ahead of the April 11 gubernatorial and houses of assembly polls.
The NYSC authority also stated that the security situation during elections had been reviewed, noting that everything possible would be done to ensure their safety during election duty.
The NYSC national secretariat in a statement on Tuesday confirmed that each corps member was entitled to N13,000 for the March 28 presidential and National Assembly election and another N13,000 for the April 11 elections.
The statement noted that all corps members who participated in the March 28 presidential and National Assembly elections ought to have received allowances for the duty.
The statement read: “For each of the two elections, a corps member is entitled to a sum of N13,000 only which breaks down to N9,000, N3,000 and N1,000 for honoraria, transportation and feeding respectively. This implies that for the two elections, the total allowance due to each corps member is N26,000 only.”
According to statement, any corps member whom after receiving the payment refused to participate in the April 11 elections would have his or her monthly allowance for the month of April 2015 deducted in the same value.
It further explained that the fund as approved by INEC was remitted directly to all state secretariat of NYSC.
“The funds for these were approved by INEC and remitted directly into each of the NYSC state secretariat’s account a week before the presidential and National Assembly elections. MANAGEMENT has confirmed that the amount of N13,000 for the presidential and National Assembly elections has been paid and any corps member who could not receive the payment latest 6p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, should make a complaint through the necessary channels.
“Also, management has directed that the N13,000 allowance for the April 11 gubernatorial and state assembly elections should be paid in advance by all NYSC state secretariats latest by Friday April 10. Corps members are however to note that for those who receive the advance payment for the April 11 election and thereafter opt out of participation for whatever reason, the paid amount will be deducted from their April 2015 monthly allowance.”

NYSC 2014 BATCH B STREAM 2 CAMPING
After much deliberation and supposed misunderstanding on NYSC Batch B stream 2 camping, it is essential that you know this truth.
The information which says that corp members should report to camp on first is correct, but not complete.
Please note that officially camp opens on the 31st day of August against 1st of September which is the first day of the registration exercise.
From the former time table before the change, all corp members are to report to camp on the first day of September and register till the third day of September. But that is no longer the case, as announced by NYSC (www.nysc.gov.ng) and also explained here.
All corp member are to arrive camp only according to Geo political zone from 1st to 8th.
In our previous post we took time to explain explicitly what NYSC meant by there update and that still hold.
So many Stream 2 corpers have sent messages clamouring for camping. But the truth is that, the government actually meant well for you.
As a corp member you are government property, if you read through their material you will see, you are to be treated specially with diverse privileges.
So NYSC in coalition with government decided to abridge/cut the orientation exercise.
The materials that you bought are not waste,as the orientation exercise is only about 10% of the service year. The bulk of activity lies in your primary assignment.
Just as explained in our previous posts, corp members are to arrive camp from 1st to 8th September according to their geopolitical zone.
For clarification on geopolitical zone visit:
http://information4living.blogspot.com/2014/08/understanding-nysc-2014-batch-b-stream-2.html?m=0
It is advisable to come in the evening of a day before your date of registration.
This is because from the 31st Aug to 8th September camp will be open, and no stream 2 will be sent packing for coming earlier. But they will only attend to you on your own day.So is not a bad idea to come a day before.
There will be temporary accommodation basically for individual who registration date falls on that day.
It is not in any way advisable to go to camp on the 1st if your Geo political zone is not registering on that day.
What then is the essence of seamless exercise
The maximum day you can spend in camp is two days.
Registration lasts only for an hour
Collect your kits and head for your primary assignment.
Don't forget to come with your bank details, sort code inclusive.
Your allowance for the month of August will be completely paid.
Other information that you need will be given to you in the course of your primary assignment.
There will be redeployment especially for those posted to threatened area.
Other forms of redeployment should come with evidence
This is the resolution of NYSC through its management .
Though many are many might not be happy with it, but is for the betterment of everyone
If any adjustment is made it will be made known to us all.
Don't forget to like the page and share to your friends also to be updated,
For batch C, are you having issues with your online?
