The World Bank said Monday 4th August 2014, that it would provide up to $200 million to Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone to help the West African nations contain a deadly Ebola outbreak.
World Bank president Jim Yong Kim, himself an expert on infectious diseases, said he has been monitoring the spread of the virus and was "deeply saddened" at how it was contributing to the breakdown of "already weak health systems in the three countries.""I am very worried that many more lives are at risk unless we can stop this Ebola epidemic in its tracks," Kim said.The funding will help provide medical supplies, pay medical staff and take care of other priorities to containthe epidemic and try to prevent future outbreaks, the World Bank said.The death toll from the Ebola outbreak on Monday reached 887 after 61 more fatalities were recorded, according to the World Health Organization.The World Bank made the announcement as African leaders including 35 presidents are visiting Washingtonfor a US-Africa summit.An initial estimate by the World Bank and IMF found that Guinea would lose one percentage point in Gross Domestic Product growth, dropping from 4.5 percent to 3.5 percent expansion in the year, due to the epidemic

Even as the world panic over the outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus, Temitope Joshua (popularly known as Pastor T.B Joshua), the Founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, has directed Ebola victims to stay in their countries.
Prophet Joshua's directive followed a plea by the officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Federal Government who visited his church, last Sunday, to seek his cooperation. The visit was said to be aimed at sensitising the church and its membership on the menace of the deadly Ebola virus.The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, who led the delegation, said it was also to make sure that no victim of the virus came into the church from any of the affected countries.Idris said, “We have our strategies that we intend toshare with you. Again, we need to know the resources you have here because whether it is one or two cases, if they are allowed to get out, it is a major problem. We are here to work together on how to contain this disease.”

There is a general law in every country that binds against Ebola victims from crossing borders," He also announced on the church's official website and Facebook page."Obey the law of your land and it shall be well with you. Obey the law of the land by not crossing the borders of your nation with Ebola virus," he added. He further made a pledge of 2000 anointing water to affected country. And if he is invited by the capacity of the government that he will carry the anointing water personally to them.
