INEC: Continous Voters Registration: for new and existing participants

Earlier this year, the independent national electoral commission commenced the dissemination of permanent voters card; but up till date most  individual have not officially claimed theirs from Inec. This could be because ;

1. It has not commenced in their state, 

2.Their names where not found or 

3. An outright unwillingness to collect. 

In what looks like another development, INEC have given every individual from 18years and above (inclusive of those who just turned 18) the opportunity to enroll in the second distribution of permanent voters card; for them to freely exercise their franchise come 2015. The essence of a permanent voters card cannot be over emphasize, so is necessary you get yours as a good Nigeria that you are

The distribution of the permanent voters card, commences from the 15 and terminate on the 17th. This will take place in the following 11 states
FCT (Abuja
Bauchi
Yobe
Jigawa
Sokoto
Kwara
Ebonyi
Anambra
Ondo
Oyo
Delta
Cross river

According to the Commission, the Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR) exercise is expected to follow immediately in the 11 states beginning from August 20 to 25.

In regards to the postponing of phase two of the programme, the Commission said new dates would be announced later for phase three involving, Katsina, Kano, Plateau, Adamawa, Borno, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Niger, Imo, Rivers, Ogun, Edo and Lagos States. He also added that only those with PVCs would be allowed to vote during the 2015 general election.

According to INEC in its daily bulletin, “Voters are expected to cross-check their names in the displayed voters’ registers. Those who registered before but do not see their names in the displayed register are to re-register during the Continuous Voters’ Registration exercise. The CVR exercise is not for those who wish to transfer. Those wishing to transfer should write to the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in their new states of domicile, well before the election, as no transfer will be approved less than 30 days to the election.
“Those who have lost their cards or whose cards are damaged may apply for them to be replaced by writing to the Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC) through the INEC Electoral Officer of the local government area where they registered for their replacement well before the election.

No replacement will be approved and no new card will be issued less than 30 days to the election.

“The PVCs will be distributed at the Polling Unit (PU) level in the affected states. At the end of the polling unit level distribution which will come to an end on Sunday, August 17, uncollected PVCs will be taken to the respective local government offices of the Commission for subsequent distribution,” the commission stated.

For those in Anambra:
Collection of permanent voters card will commence on Friday 15th-Aug17 Sun
This will happen in all the 4608 polling units where the voters registered
Time: 8am-4pm

Continuous voters registration CVR
20th-25th August
This will happen in all the 326 ward/registration area collation center.
Time 8am-4pm
Each applicant for both must appear in person
Those eligible for CVR
Nigeria and Anambrarian who turned 18 this year
Those not registered in 2011 and 2013 CVR
Those with missing records like incomplete finger print etc

The CVR applicant must appear with any of the following
Birth or Baptismal certificate
National passport, National Id card or drivers license
The later information is signed by ANISEC
