ABUJA— NATIONAL Youth Service Corps, NYSC, weekend, debunked a media report that the orientation course for prospective corps members deployed to crisis-prone states has been suspended due to the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD.
The scheme urged prospective corps members to ignore the report, saying orientation course for corps members deployed to Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Jigawa, Yobe and Borno states was still on course.
A statement by the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relation, Mrs Olubunmi Aderibigbe, described the report as misleading, asking corps members to report to their various camps for proper documentation.The statement read:  “The attention of the NYSC Management has been drawn to a news report aired onAIT to the effect that the orientation course for prospective corps members deployed to Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Jigawa, Yobe and Borno states has been suspended due to the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease.

The Direct Words Of NYSC Director general in kubwa camp;

Our last post informed us on the DG's word in Delta camp, in Kubwa Abuja camp he advised;
Members of the National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC ) deployed to the Federal Capial Territory for the service year have been told to be mindful of the information they post on social media sites , in view of the implications , especially during job recruitment exercises.

Director - General of the NYSC , Brig. Gen. Johnson Olawumni , who gave the advice while addressing the corps members at the orientation camp in Kubwa , said suchinformation was being monitored by prospective employers and might be a determining factor in securing employment .“ You will soon start attending interviews at the end of your service . By the time your name is Googled during such exercise, the information on your wall will determine the outcome of the interview , ” he said .He also urged them to justify the huge resources being invested in the programme by government by reciprocating through contributing their quota to nation building and being patriotic and positive about the nation .On the spread of the Ebola disease , the NYSC helmsman assured corps members across the country of their safety and security, insisting that the disease would not disrupt the exercise as precautionary measures have been put in place to contain the spread of the disease .“ Our care for your security does not end only when you are on camp . Even in your places of primary assignment , we are keeping tabs on you . Our hope is that just as your parents released you to us completely , we are also going to release you to your parents complete at the end of the service year, ” he said .

In summary, NYSC will not make any changes without properly disseminating the information.
